In Memory of

Maria Eitz

Maria was born in Germany at the beginning of WWII. She has lived in the United States since 1963. Inspired by a commitment to social justice, Maria devoted her life and her career to improving the lives of children locally and internationally. She was the founder and director of Medical Volunteers International. Maria had extensive experience developing human rights programs in Asia and Africa as always for the sake of children. The children and their parents were rendered vulnerable because of wars on the continents of Africa, Asia and Europe as well as natural disasters and famine. She adopted four children born during the Vietnam War and brought them to America. .

Maria was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest in San Francisco on 13 May of 2013. The following year she became pastor of Sophia in Trinity Catholic Community until 2021. Maria's courage and light serve as a beacon to all. She leaves behind a legacy of service, dedication and love for every child she has ever know. Maria's spirit was woven from compassion, love and grace to act with justice.
